ABUS BYPASS DRIVER from Sparrows

Designed to open the very popular Abus 72/40 padlocks, this slip of a tool can be very effective with some practice.  It is just as effective on the many Abus clones out there that have copied this model.

The tool simply bypasses all the tumblers in the lock and accesses the locking mechanism deep inside the case.  The Abus 72/40 padlock uses wafer tumblers, giving the tool lots of room to sneak past them.  Some finesse is required, and due to the complexity of the process (complex but not difficult to do), we are quoting from Sparrows' original instruction sheet:

The Driver slides through the keyway and with a turn the shackle opens, it’s just like using a key. The Abus Driver is a modified version of our slim Euro Driver. To effectively use the ByPass Driver insert is golf head UP into the lock under the pins all the way to the back of the padlock. At the back of the lock the driver head needs to be worked into position. Unlike the American ByPass the ABUS need to be gently pressed a bit deeper into the lock with a slight back and forth wiggle - only a few degrees. When it is properly seated gently turn the handle and open the lock.

The Keyway for the ABUS is narrow so the tool also has to be a bit thinner - proper technique is important so that the tool is not damaged during use
